What does the Wooden Window Program hope to accomplish?
The goal of the Window Program is to promote energy efficiency and environmentally safe housing by providing grants to owners to repair or replace deteriorated wooden windows. The grants are offered as an incentive to owners to upgrade their rental apartments, to complete lead abatement, and to stimulate neighborhood revitalization.
How is the Wooden Window Program administered?
CHIF manages all aspects of the Window Program, and conducts underwriting and loan origination activities.
How is the Wooden Window Program financed?
The program is funded by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). Eligible owners receive a grant of $100 to repair or replace apartment windows. Owners must provide documentation that they are matching the grant with $100 per window. The match may be a grant from another program or from private funds.
Who is eligible for grants from the Wooden Window Program?
Apartment owners who own buildings constructed on or before 1950, and who contribute matching funds of $100 per window are eligible to apply for a grant. Properties must be located in either Waterbury or New Britain.
What other materials should I submit with my application?
